Jim Gardner enters his 14th season with the Golden Eagles women's soccer program. In addition to coaching, Gardner is a physical education instructor at Jessup and Prairie Wind Elementary school and coaches the girls' soccer team at East High School. 

Gardner helped coach the co-ed club soccer team in 2002 at LCCC. When the LCCC Board of Trustees approved a NJCAA Division 1 women's soccer team in 2003, Gardner was named the head coach and has been the only coach in the program's history.

In 2014, Gardner led the Golden Eagles to their 12th consecutive winning season with a 13-5-1 record. The Golden Eagles reached the Region IX title game for the 11th consecutive season.

Gardner has an overall record of 171-50-21 at LCCC. He has captured eight Region IX Championships, six District B Championships and has guided his team to the NJCAA National Tournament six times: 2005, 2006, 2007, 2010, 2012 and 2013. He has been named the Region IX Coach of the Year eight times and was named the NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year in 2013.

Over the course of his career at LCCC, Gardner has produced 21 All-Americans, 9 Academic All-Americans and 53 All-Region IX performers. He has taken home many awards at the high school level being been named Wyoming High School South Conference Coach of the Year, Wyoming State Soccer Coach of the Year, National Soccer Coaches Association of America’s (NSCAA) Region VII Soccer Coach of the Year, National Federation of Interscholastic Coaches Association’s (NFICA) Regional Coach of the Year, NFICA National Coach of the Year, National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) Regional Soccer Coach of the Year and NHSCA National Soccer Coach of the Year.

These awards are well-deserved. With successes not limited to five high school state championships, three NSCAA national rankings and five club state championships, Gardner is accustomed to leading teams to success. He has coached more than 75 players from high school and club teams who have gone on to play all levels of college soccer.

Gardner has received the National “B” license from the USSF and the NSCAA Advanced National certificate.

Rebecca ValdezRebecca Valdez, Assistant Coach

Rebecca Valdez returns for her 13th season as an assistant coach for the LCCC women’s soccer program. A native of Cheyenne, Valdez played club soccer for the Cheyenne Sting and was a three-time all-state performer at East High School where the team won three state titles and accumulated a record of 59-1-1 during her four-year career.
Valdez was a four-year starter and four-year all-conference performer at Northern State University in Aberdeen, S.D., an NCAA Division II program. She graduated NSU in 2002 as a Verizon/Adidas Region VII Scholar Athlete and an All-America Scholar Athlete nominee.
Valdez was named the North Region Junior College Assistant Coach of the Year in 2014 by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association. Rebecca has earned her NSCAA Advanced National Coaching certificate. She also teaches Social Studies at Cheyenne East High School.

Kay Olivas, Goalkeeper Coach

Kay Olivas enters her second season with the Golden Eagles soccer program. She is originally from Huntington Beach, California. Her primary responsibilities are to work with the goalkeepers.
Olivas was a goalkeeper for the University of Wyoming women's soccer team. She's been involved with Wyoming Youth Soccer's Olympic Development Program for the past seven years as a coach and administrator. Olivas has her NSCAA Advance National Diploma, Level 1 Goalkeeper Diploma, High School Coaching Diploma and Director of Coaching Diploma.
