Men's basketball team defeats Lamar CC

Golden Eagles lock in fourth seed for Region IX Tournament.

The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team beat Lamar Community College (7-21 overall, 1-11 south sub-region) 75-65 on Feb. 28 in Lamar, Colo.

The Golden Eagles' offense was rolling as they took a 35-28 lead into the half. In the second half they continued to dominate and put up 40 more points. The team was led by Phillip Freeman’s 20 points and eight assists.

With this win, the Golden Eagles lock up the fourth seed in the Region IX Tournament. The tournament will be hosted by Western Nebraska Community College March 9-13. The Eagles will face Western Wyoming Community College in the first round (21-8 overall) on March 10 at 3 p.m.

First the Golden Eagles (14-14 overall, 9-4 south sub-region) have to finish out the regular season. The team travels to Sheridan, Wyo., to play Sheridan College (22-6 overall), on March 1 at 7:30 p.m. and then they’ll wrap up the regular season at home at 7 p.m. March 3 against Central Wyoming College.
