Wednesday, March 31, 2010
Women's team just shy of making top 10.
The Laramie County Community College men's rodeo team started the year off with a bang, winning first and second in the bull riding competition at Eastern Wyoming College in Torrington, Wyo., March 26-28.
Justin Thomas won both rounds and the average, scoring 159 points on two bulls and earning 180 points for the team. Freshman Loncey Johnson placed second in the long round and third in the short round, earning him a second-place finish and 140 points for the team. Johnson hasn’t been on a bull since tearing his ACL in the Shawn Dubie Rodeo in October. Jack Tyner earned 20 points and a sixth-place finish in the tie-down roping. The men’s team finished fourth with 340 points.

The women’s team turned in some outstanding performances, but was just short of making the top ten.

Both teams will be on the road April 2-4 at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colo.
