Women’s soccer team moves on to championship

Golden Eagles defeat North Idaho in district semifinals.

The 10th-ranked Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team defeated North Idaho College 3-1 in the semifinal round of the District B Tournament at the college’s soccer field in Cheyenne on Nov. 5.

North Idaho got on the board first, scoring its only goal of the game in the 10th minute of play. After that it was all LCCC. Rebecca Erpelding scored for LCCC in the 30th minute, assisted by Emi Yamamoto, to make it a tie game at the end of the first half. Early in the second half, LCCC’s Yamamoto tacked on a couple of goals in the 47th and 51st minutes, assisted by Amanda Halter and unassisted, respectively, to seal the win for LCCC.

The Golden Eagles will play in the championship game at 2 p.m. Saturday at LCCC with a shot at going to the national tournament on the line. They will face the winner of this afternoon’s match between Hutchinson Community College and Western Nebraska Community College.
