Golden Eagles avenge previous loss to Central Wyoming

Wednesday, December 12, 2012
Deshon Portley scores 29 points.

With sweet revenge, the LCCC men's basketball team bounced the Rustlers of Central Wyoming College 76-67 on Dec. 11 at LCCC.

The Golden Eagles had lost to the Rustlers 69-76 in their first meeting of the season. The Eagles were ready this time around and went into the first half with a 35-33 lead. In the second half, LCCC used a matchup zone defense and controlled the game’s tempo. When the Golden Eagles were in the bonus, they looked for contact and got the Rustlers to foul so they could win the game from the free-throw line. The Eagles shot 73 percent compared the Rustlers' 68 percent from the charity stripe. The Golden Eagles improve to 11-3 for the season.
