LCCC Foundation receives $500,000 gift

Wednesday, February 19, 2014
Among other things, the money will be used to support services in the Ludden Library.

A former employee of Laramie County Community College has provided a gift of $500,000 through the LCCC Foundation.

Irmgard A. Meyer worked in the college’s library in the 1980s. Her gift was designated in part to enrich services in the Ludden Library, including to help redesign the Learning Center on campus.

The gift was made as part of the estate of Meyer, who passed away in 2012.

LCCC President Joe Schaffer spoke for many when he addressed the value of Meyer and her gift to the campus.

"LCCC touches so many lives, but we forget sometimes how other lives touch us,” he said. “Irmgard Meyer was one of those individuals who chose the LCCC library as a place to work, and decades later she chose to give even more back in the form of this amazing gift.”

Her gift came out of the love she had for the college and the respect she had for former supervisor, Sandra Donovan.

To this day, Donovan fondly recalls her time with Meyer, noting how in addition to being a wonderful employee, she was well liked and highly respected by students, staff, and others in the community that visited the library.
