Volleyball team drops two at home

LCCC is 10-15 on the season.

The Laramie County Community College volleyball team lost 1-3 to Western Wyoming Community College on Oct. 11 at LCCC.

The Golden Eagles jumped out early to a lead in the first game but hit a bump and allowed the Mustangs to gain some momentum midway through the game and lost 19-25. The second game went much like the first, with the Golden Eagles giving up a an early lead and losing 25-19. LCCC found some consistency in the third game and had a couple aces to propel them to a 25-19 win. LCCC tried to build some momentum to force a fifth game but lost the match in the fourth, 25-19.

As a team, LCCC had three solo blocks, 10 block assist, 52 digs, three aces, 38 kills and 30 assists. Sophomore Rory McCloy led the Golden Eagles with two solo blocks, two block assists, four kills and 29 assists.

The loss dropped the Golden Eagles to 10-14 on the year and 2-5 in Region IX.
Golden Eagles fall in three to CWC
The Golden Eagles were looking to bounce back against Central Wyoming College on Oct. 12, but failed to get things going and lost in three straight games, 20-25, 20-25 and 12-25.

LCCC struggled to find consistency and dropped the first two sets 20-25 and 20-25. CWC had strong momentum in the third and finished the Golden Eagles off 25-12.

The Golden Eagles recorded 15 block assists, 61 digs, 32 kills, 23 assists and two solo blocks. They were led by sophomore Kimber Payne who had six block assists, six kills and two digs.

The loss drops LCCC to 10-15 for the season and 2-6 in Region IX.

The team will hit the road to take on Casper College on Oct. 19 at 5 p.m. in Casper, Wyo.
