The Associate of Arts degree in physical education is designed to prepare students to meet those academic standards leading to a bachelor’s degree at a four-year educational institution.

Students are exposed to behavioral and humanistic studies to foster an understanding of the teaching profession as well as an understanding of the school as a social institution and students as unique individuals.

Given the flexibility of the curriculum, one can pursue a teaching or nonteaching degree (Movement Science, Exercise Physiology, Fitness Leadership, Sports Management, etc.). This two-year suggested program is for students seeking a physical education teaching degree from a four-year university. The same course of study offers a solid liberal arts education, thereby preparing students for academic advancement in program areas other than physical education. Students should consult with a faculty advisor in selecting those courses that are not specifically identified to ensure the courses are appropriate and transferable.
