May 21 to begin college's 40-year anniversary
Lordy, lordy, look who’s 40. Laramie County Community College is fast approaching its 40th birthday.
On May 21, 1968, the voters of Laramie County approved the creation of LCCC. From May 21, 2008, to May 21, 2009, LCCC will celebrate its birthday year with students, employees and the community.
The LCCC public relations department and a 40th anniversary committee are still working on details for the yearlong celebration.
As of now, the location for the May 21 birthday bash has yet to be determined. However, according to Lisa Murphy, director of public relations, “something will be done on that day” this May.
In addition to the May birthday celebration, LCCC will host a community day in honor of its 40th anniversary. All students, employees and community members are invited to attend and participate in the day’s festivities.
Full details for the community day are currently being developed and will continue to be ironed out throughout the summer. (full story)
"The Robbys" are back!
The single greatest, most prestigious award a Laramie County Community College athlete has the honor of receiving isn’t just for basketball players anymore.
That’s right, this year’s rendition of the “Robbys” is bigger and better than ever. Instead of basketball players being the only athletes eligible for this monumental, life-changing award, as I did last year, I will give at least one “Robby” to an athlete from each sport at LCCC.
Of course, I won’t allow just any athlete to take one of these “Robbys” home to cherish forever. These recipients are only those who have shown they can perform well on the court, field or arena as well as in the classroom. Plus, I will certainly take a few sophomores’ two-year career into consideration and will give the edge to those who have made a positive impact on LCCC and most importantly—me.
Don’t worry about congratulating these players in the hallway or letting them know how proud you are of them for receiving a “Robby.” They won’t need those words because they will already be eternally basking in the warmth and the glory that comes along with being a “Robby” recipient.

'Nerd'y play amuses campus
Laramie County Community College Theatre Department’s production of “The Nerd” on April 11 was wonderfully entertaining, witty and amusing.
Every member, except one, was perfect.
Comedic timing and humorously developed characters made the play a treat.
The cast included Trevor Kortum as Willum Cubbert; Bailey Johnson as Tansy McGinnis, Paul Hooker as Axel Hammond; Ryan Archibald as Warnock Waldgrave; Lizie Ackerman as Clelia Waldgrave; Skye Krahenbuhl as Thelia Waldgrave; and Guy Tustin as Rick Steadman (The Nerd).
