LCCC is helping kids with back-to-school shopping

With the new school year rapidly approaching, the community is invited to help students in need.

This year marks the 23rd annual Operation Back to School event. The program provides school supplies and other needed items to school children, college students, and even entire families. But it doesn’t work without donations from generous individuals.

Operation Back to School accepts almost any items that can be used by students. Donations of school supplies can be dropped off at a number of LCCC sites including student services, the Ludden Library, the bookstore, and the break room in the administration building. Donations also may be delivered directly to Needs Inc. at 900 Central Ave. in Cheyenne.

Monetary donations also are accepted. Checks may be made payable to Needs Inc., Attn: OBTS.

Items needed include: rulers, pencil bags, erasers, glue sticks, index cards, crayons, bottled glue, Kleenex, highlighters, jump drives, backpacks, post-It notes, ballpoint pens, colored pencils, pocket folders, tabbed dividers, three-ring notebooks, scissors (right & left-handed), pencils, loose-leaf paper, spiral notebooks, composition notebooks, and markers (regular/washable).
