The Big Bets

Big Bet: Accelerated Course Delivery
This Big Bet focuses on closing equity gaps in persistence and completion by redesigning how learning is structured and delivered. The College will adopt accelerated course delivery as the default, redesign curriculum from an outcomes-first perspective, and emphasize active, high-impact learning across programs.
By aligning curriculum, pedagogy, and course scheduling, we will make it easier for students to attempt and complete more credits each term. This work addresses structural barriers that disproportionately affect part-time, working, first-generation, and low-income students, reducing stop-out, increasing credit accumulation, and improving the likelihood that more students complete credentials with meaningful post-completion impact.
Hypothesis
If LCCC makes 8-week course delivery the default, redesigns curriculum around clearly defined outcomes, and standardizes active, high-impact instructional practices, then more students will attempt and complete more credits per semester, leading to higher persistence, increased credential attainment, and more equitable completion outcomes.
Why This MattersThis Big Bet represents a deliberate shift from legacy academic structures toward a model built for student momentum and success. It requires institution-wide coordination and a willingness to learn and adapt based on evidence. Success will be measured by sustained improvements in credit accumulation, completion, and the number of students earning credentials that lead to meaningful jobs, successful transfer, or career advancement. |

Big Bet: College Renaming and Brand Promise
This Big Bet focuses on increasing demand for the College by clarifying who we are, where we are, and the value we offer to students and partners across a broader regional market. We will pursue a new institutional name and articulated brand promise to reduce confusion, strengthen credibility, and position the College to be intentionally chosen by more students, employers, and partners.
While awareness of the College has grown through sustained regional marketing, research indicates that confusion about the College’s name, location, and academic scope continues to limit consideration and conversion, particularly outside Laramie County. This Big Bet addresses that structural barrier by aligning our name and brand promise with the institution we have become, expanding reach into new geographic and demographic markets, strengthening partnerships, and supporting enrollment growth in a region facing long-term demographic and workforce challenges.
Hypothesis
If the College adopts a clearer institutional name and compelling brand promise that reflects its academic quality, outcomes, student experience, and regional role, then more prospective students and partners will understand our value, leading to increased consideration, enrollment, and engagement across new and existing markets.
Why This MattersThis Big Bet represents a strategic investment in clarity and alignment, not image alone. It requires institutional coordination, thoughtful change management, and sustained follow-through. Success will be reflected in stronger demand, improved conversion from awareness to enrollment, and the College’s ability to compete effectively for students and partnerships in an increasingly crowded and competitive higher education environment. |
