George McIlvaine of LCCC’s Foundation wins statewide award

George McIlvaine, currently serving as Laramie County Community College Foundation’s board chair, was named Foundation Volunteer of the Year by the Wyoming Association Community College Trustees.

McIlvaine began his service to LCCC in 2006, serving as a member of the LCCC Board of Trustees from 2006-2010. After that term, he was asked to join the Foundation Board as a permanent member, and he continues to serve in that role.

Since that time, he has served as chairman of the development committee and was a member of several others on that board. He was installed as board president in January.

He and his wife Mary received LCCC’s Lifetime Heritage Award in 2010. That award is given every two years to a person or family in recognition of their support of LCCC, and it also provides an opportunity to recognize their commitment to the Cheyenne community. The pair also endowed the Mary McIlvaine Nursing Scholarship to benefit LCCC students with a financial need that are enrolled in the nursing program.

Additionally, McIlvaine is heavily involved in the community including Rotary Club, the Meals on Wheels Foundation, the Wyoming Community Foundation, the Cheyenne Animal Shelter, Cheyenne School Foundation and the Southeast Wyoming Estate Planners.
