Those needing high school equivalency welcome to join the ACES program at LCCC
CHEYENNE, WYO. — Students looking to complete their high school equivalency have an opportunity at Laramie County Community College, with a new schedule of classes offered through the Adult Career and Education System (ACES).
There is no cost to attend these classes, thanks to grant funding received by the program.
Adult Education and High School Equivalency Certificate Preparation are offered in a seven-week class session beginning Oct. 30. LCCC offers two pathways to the High School Equivalency Certificate tests. HiSET™ is offered through ACES, and GED 2014® is offered through the Exam Lab. These classes prepare students for either test, as both are based on the College and Career Readiness Standards.
Information sessions will take place at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, where interested participants will get a brief overview of the program with time for questions. Parents of those under 18 are encouraged to attend the session with their youth so that the appropriate signatures can be obtained.
Instruction is provided by the ACES team in Cheyenne. Offered in morning, afternoon, and evening, these noncredit classes are available for residents 16 years old or older.
ACES helps students develop the skills necessary for continued education or meaningful employment through combined training in academics, communication skills, and college and career transition.
For more information or to reserve a space for these classes, contact LCCC's Adult Career and Education System at 307.637.2450.
