LCCC to host GIS Day Open House

CHEYENNE, Wyoming. – In Celebration of GIS Day, Laramie County Community College will host an open house from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Nov. 17.  LCCC faculty and staff, along with local GIS professionals, will be on hand to showcase how Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other geospatial technologies are used to solve problems in our everyday lives. These “intelligent” maps and technologies are applicable in any career field.

Members of the community that are interested in learning more about GIS and STEM are invited to attend. The open house will include hands-on demonstrations, map displays, interactive mapping drones and more.

“Geographic Information Systems and other geospatial technologies have become commonplace in our everyday lives. GIS Day is celebrated around the world each year to showcase how these technologies are used to help make decisions and solve spatially-related problems in all types of business and industry,” shared Trent Morrell, LCCC STEM pathway coordinator.

The open house will be held on the LCCC Campus in the Student Lounge in the College Community Center.
