Presented by LCCC, the Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo brings teams from across the state and region to compete in the college’s top-tier facilities. Events begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. Sunday for the college’s only home rodeo of the season

Shawn Dubie attended LCCC and qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo in 1987 and 1988. At just 21 years old, Shawn passed away following an injury sustained at the Greeley Independence Stampede. The Shawn Dubie Memorial Rodeo was created to honor Shawn and his contributions to the College and to college rodeo. Proceeds from this rodeo are used to support an LCCC scholarship established in his memory.

The Golden Eagles started off hot this season with excellent showings in the opening bout hosted by Chadron State College. The team had another noteworthy performance the following weekend in Riverton with a second-place finish from the men’s team and a third-place standing for the women’s team.

LCCC interim rodeo coach Dean Finnerty said he hopes the community will come out to support the Golden Eagles in what’s looking to be a competitive season.

“This rodeo commemorating an outstanding athlete is the perfect place for our team to show what they're capable of in front of a home crowd,” Finnerty said. “This is an exceptional event with fun for the whole family, so we hope people come to see what we’re all about.”

General admission tickets are $10 with free admission for retired and active duty military members with ID. There is no cost for admission for children 12 and younger. LCCC students and employees can also come for free with ID. Food and drink is available to purchase at the event. Tickets and more information about the event is available at GoLCCC.com.
