Ryan Fritz benefit concert and Ranch Horse Showcase coming to LCCC

Ryan FritzCHEYENNE, Wyoming – Laramie County Community College invites the community to an evening that marries competitive spirit with musical flair. The event, set for Friday at the LCCC Arena on the Cheyenne campus, features the Slidin' Daze Ranch Horse Roundup at 5 p.m., with riders demonstrating their prowess in reining and cow work. Following the showcase, a concert headlined by Ryan Fritz will start at approximately 7 p.m.

Concessions courtesy of LCCC Dining Services will be available.

The event is free, but donations are encouraged. Proceeds will benefit the Ben Tyner Legacy Scholarship, aiding students at LCCC in their educational endeavors.

Ben Tyner, a native of Cheyenne, studied equine training and management at LCCC, proudly competing on the first LCCC Ranch Horse Team. His academic journey continued at Tarleton State University, where Tyner further honed his skills in stock horse events and passionately contributed to the lives of others. Tyner went missing on Jan. 26, 2019, in Merritt, British Columbia, Canada. To honor his legacy, a scholarship fund has been established in his name at the LCCC Foundation. Contributions support Tyner’s legacy by assisting students in achieving their academic and professional goals.

Ryan Fritz, a true "Ranchin' Man," channels his authentic cowboy life into songwriting, inspired by his early days on Canada's Gang Ranch and the music of Ian Tyson. With eight albums, including his latest, "Ranchfolk at Large" in 2023, Fritz’s songs narrate the Western and ranching lore, earning him a Wrangler Heritage Award in 2017.

No alcohol is permitted at the event.

This event promises a memorable evening of music, competition and community support, all in tribute to a remarkable individual whose legacy continues to inspire. Go to lccc.wy.edu/events for more details on the event or how to contribute to the Ben Tyner Legacy Scholarship.

A collegiate horse show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mar. 17 in the LCCC Arena offers another opportunity for community members to support LCCC students. This event is open to the public at no charge.
