The exhibition explores the intersection of art, design, technology, education, and politics through a body of work inspired by Elrod's ongoing creative research and visual storytelling practice.

LCCC invites the public to attend an opening reception from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 4, in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium lobby. Following the reception, Elrod will present an artist talk at 11 a.m. in the Surbrugg/Prentice Auditorium. Later that afternoon, Elrod will lead a private printmaking workshop for photography students.

"Hellfighter began as a way to explore questions that do not always have straightforward answers," said Elrod “I'm thrilled to share this work with the LCCC community and discuss my approach to teaching and practicing creativity.”

Hellfighter draws its name from Elrod's ongoing Hellfighter project, a fictional magazine platform he created to explore contemporary social issues through illustration, design, and visual communication. According to the artist, the project focuses on the intersections of art, design, technology, education, and politics, providing a framework to investigate questions and ideas shaping modern culture.

"We are excited to welcome Jarred to campus and provide students and community members with the opportunity to engage directly with a practicing artist, designer, and educator," said Daniel Maw, LCCC art instructor. "His work encourages viewers to think critically about contemporary issues while demonstrating the power of visual communication as a tool for exploration and dialogue."

A citizen of the Chickasaw Nation and native West Texan, Elrod is a graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, and educator.  HOW Magazine, the Texas Biennial, and the Bolivia and Uruguay International Poster Biennials have featured his work. He is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Tampa and presents lectures and workshops across the U.S. and abroad.

All exhibition events are free and open to the public.
