Online Event Calendar Category Definitions

Events can be tagged for multiple categories.

• All Events: This will be all the events that have “yes” selected for being posted to the public events listing in CourseDog. It will include all the events for each of the following categories.
  
  
• Academic: These are the official dates for the school year from the catalog such as first/last day of classes and holiday closures. These are not for individual classes.
  (Marketing & Communications will add these. These do not have a room tied to them.)
  
  
• Athletics: These are athletic games/rodeos, not practices. This will only show the gym/arena/field, not locker rooms.
  Athletics is a term that is defined on our website: Basketball, Esports, Rodeo, Soccer, Volleyball.
  
  Ranch Horse, Judging, Intramurals are all clubs. Those would be listed under Student Events, unless they have something open to the community, and then Community Events.
  
  
• Community Events: This is two types of events: events hosted by the college for the community (e.g. LCCC concerts and plays) and community events held on camps (craft fairs, workshops, car shows, etc.).
  
  
• Cultural Events: Because there are a large quantity of community events, we added a separate filter for cultural events, so they don’t get lost. This is events like LCCC Music Department concerts, Theatre Department plays, and Art Department/LCCC Foundation Cultural Series art exhibits as well as community events like the International Film Festival or private concerts in the auditorium.
  
  Typically a Cultural Event will also be a community event. It could be a Student Event as well.
  
  
• Employee Events: This category is for events for larger groups of employees like Employee Recognition, In-service, etc.
  
  Student events where we’d like employees to attend are welcome to be tagged here as well, such as The Kickoff, HSW table displays, Talon Talks and intramurals.
  
  
• Student Events: These are events like CAB events, The Kickoff, intramurals, etc.
  
  Athletic events and cultural events can also be tagged for student events.
