LCCC Athletics Announces 2024 Hall of Fame class

Laramie County Community College athletics is proud to announce the fourth class of the LCCC Athletics Hall of Fame with six inductees set to be honored on the weekend of Aug. 9 and 10, 2024.

“We are looking forward to inducting our fourth Hall of Fame class here at Laramie Country Community College,” said LCCC Athletic Director Mark Puev. “These individuals and everyone associated with them have meant so much to the history of the Athletic Department. The event has grown over the last couple of years, and we look forward to this continued growth as we recognize these former student athletes and teams now, and in the future. It is exciting for me to see the history that has taken place, and to watch everyone come together for an amazing weekend”.

The class is highlighted by the 2013 Women’s Soccer team which placed third at the NJCAA National Championship after falling to eventual national champion Iowa Western Community College in a shootout in the national semifinal after playing to a 0-0 draw. The 2013 Golden Eagles finished 18-2-3 and had three All-American’s on the roster and saw five players move on to 4-year schools.

Two individuals from the 2013 team are also being inducted as well, with Taylor Hockley and Francesca Ali earning the honor after stellar careers with the Golden Eagles.

Hockley, a native of Casper, Wyoming, was an NJCAA First Team All-American in 2013 and was also named an NSCAA First Team All-American both years she played with LCCC. She is fourth in career goals in school history with 32 and is third for most goals in a single game with four.

Ali, who came to LCCC from London, England, was a 2013 NSCAA Second Team All-American in 2013 and went on to play professionally in England for multiple squads.

Sarah Erickson is the third women’s soccer player to be added to the Class of 2024. Erickson was a member of the 2015 and 2016 teams and was a team captain while playing defense for the Golden Eagles. She helped both teams to the National Tournament, finishing 9th in 2015 and 3rd in 2016. The defense of the 2016 team was one of the best in school history with 15 shutouts, more than any other team, and their 19 wins is tied for first in school history.

The first men’s soccer player to be inducted into the LCCC Athletics Hall of Fame is Romeo Kabanda. Kabanda was the first NJCAA All-American in school history, being named to the second team in 2008 as a sophomore, helping the men’s program to a 26-10-4 record and a pair of Region IX Conference championships during his time with the Golden Eagles.

The final member of the 2024 class is Loncey Johnson from the LCCC rodeo team. Johnson competed as a rough stock rider for the Golden Eagles from 2010 to 2012 and was a two-time Central Rocky Mountain Region Champion Bull Rider. He finished in 8th place in the 2012 College National Finals Rodeo after entering ranked 2nd in the nation and is one of only five bull riders to place in the top ten in the LCCC rodeo programs history.

“The selection committee is proud of the Hall of Fame Class we have selected this year. This group of athletes is a great representation of the rich history of Golden Eagle Athletics,” said Justin Gorman, LCCC Foundation representative and member of the selection committee. “Congratulations to each of our honorees and we look forward to celebrating with them in August.”

The 2024 induction ceremony will be held on alumni weekend at LCCC, with both the men’s and women’s soccer teams hosting their alumni games that Saturday.
