LCCC Student Art Show to spotlight emerging artists

Students looking at artwork on the wall in the gallery.CHEYENNE, Wyoming – Art lovers will have a chance to see what Laramie County Community College students have been creating this year as the 2026 LCCC Student Art Show opens this spring on the Cheyenne campus.

The exhibition will run through May 10 in the Esther and John Clay Fine Art Gallery, open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. A public reception is set for 10:30 a.m.-noon April 28 in the gallery. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public.

More than 100 submissions are expected for the show, said Daniel Maw, LCCC art instructor and gallery coordinator. All works are submitted by currently enrolled LCCC students, from those who are new to art classes to others who have spent years developing their skills with faculty in the art department. Visitors can expect a wide range of media, with drawings, paintings and ceramic pieces likely to be most prevalent, alongside other work created in and out of class.

Providing an opportunity for students to display their work in a gallery setting is what makes the exhibition especially meaningful, Maw said, while also giving the community a chance to see what local artists at LCCC are producing. The show can also give prospective students a glimpse of what is possible through the college’s art program.

“This show is always exciting because we get to celebrate the work students have poured themselves into and give them the experience of being part of a real exhibition,” Maw said. “It’s also a chance for the community to see the strength of the work our students are producing and for prospective students to get a real sense of what’s possible here.”
