Mayor Rick Kaysen to give commencement address to graduates

Laramie County Community College recently announced that Mayor Richard “Rick” Kaysen of Cheyenne will be the speaker for this year’s commencement ceremony, which takes place on Saturday, May 10.

After graduating from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado, Kaysen served in the Vietnam War. Upon his return, he had an extensive career in the electric and natural gas industries, ultimately becoming the president and CEO of Cheyenne Light, Fuel and Power in 2002.

Kaysen has been the mayor of Cheyenne since January 2009.

Known for his active service and leadership positions around the community, he has served on the boards of directors for the Cheyenne Botanic Gardens Foundation, Cheyenne LEADS, the Laramie County Community College Foundation, the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce, and the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra.

Kaysen was selected as this years speaker based on suggestions from the student body. The Student Government Association narrowed the field, and a committee made the final decision.

This academic year, 724 graduates will earn their credentials at LCCC.
