  3. LCCC implemented an application process to identify students enrolled for Summer 2021, Fall 2021, and Spring 2022 Semesters who needed emergency grant funding. Awarding of summer grants began on June 1, 2021, awarding of fall grants began on September 7, 2021, and awarding of spring grants will begin on February 1, 2022.

Students were asked the following question on the grant applications:

Have you been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and have a financial need for an allowable expense?  Allowable expenses include any component of your cost of attendance or emergency costs that arise due to Coronavirus, such as but not limited to tuition, fees, course materials, food, housing, health care, mental health care, or child care.

If students answered “no” to this question, they did not qualify for an emergency grant.

LCCC Summer 2021 COVID-19 Emergency Grant

LCCC established three base grant award levels in an effort to distribute the grant funds as widely as possible to our students in need of emergency funds and to ensure prioritization of funding to our students with exceptional need.

Grant award amounts were tiered based on the student’s Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from their 2020/2021 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Students with a Pell-eligible EFC qualified for the highest grant amount of $1,500.  Students that did not have a Pell-eligible EFC but demonstrated financial need based on their 2020/2021 FAFSA qualified for a lower grant amount of $1,000.   Students that did not demonstrate financial need or did not have a FAFSA on file qualified for the lowest grant amount of $500.

Students that indicated that they faced significant unexpected expenses on their grant application such as loss of employment, reduced income, or food or housing insecurity due to the impacts of COVID-19 received a $500 increase to their base grant amount.

Grant awards ranged from $500 to $2,000 per student.

The average grant awarded was $1,527.

LCCC Fall 2021 COVID-19 Emergency Grant

LCCC established three full-time grant award levels in an effort to distribute the grant funds as widely as possible to our students in need of emergency funds and to ensure prioritization of funding to our students with exceptional need.

Grant award amounts were tiered based on the student’s financial need and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) from their 2021/2022 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Full-time students with a Pell-eligible EFC qualified for the highest grant amount of $2,000.  Full-time students that did not have a Pell-eligible EFC but demonstrated financial need based on their 2021/2022 FAFSA qualified for a $1,500 grant.   Full-time students that did not demonstrate financial need or did not have a 2021/2022 FAFSA on file qualified for a $1,000 grant.

The above grant amounts were prorated based on the student’s enrollment status at the time of awarding as follows:  75% for quarter-time enrollment (9 - 11 credit hours), 50% for half-time enrollment (6 - 8 credit hours), and 25% for less than half-time enrollment (1 - 5 credit hours).

Grant awards ranged from $250 to $2,000 per student.

The average grant awarded was $1,273.

LCCC Spring 2022 COVID-19 Emergency Grant

The same award levels and grant amounts described above for LCCC’s Fall 2021 COVID-19 Emergency Grant will be used for Spring 2022 Semester.

The grant application will be available for students on the first class day of Spring 2022 Semester, January 18, 2022, and awarding of grants will begin on February 1, 2022.
