On‑Campus Housing: What You Need to Know
How much does it cost to live in the Residence Hall for one academic year?
Housing costs include your room, required meal plan, utilities, high‑speed internet, cable TV, and free laundry. Rates vary depending on room type and meal plan. Please see LCCC’s Housing Rates & Meal Plan Information page for current prices.
How does the meal plan work?
All residents are automatically enrolled in a required meal plan each semester. Your student ID serves as your meal card, giving you:
A set number of “all you can eat” meals per week
A balance of flex dollars for grab‑and‑go items at various campus dining locations
Full details are available on the college’s Rates & Meal Information page.
What can I bring to the Residence Hall?
A full What to Bring List is available online and outlines what is allowed and what
to leave at home.
Each bedroom comes furnished with:
- Two XL twin beds
- Two desks and chairs
- Two four‑drawer bureaus
- Suite common areas include a small couch, coffee table, table, and chairs.
We recommend contacting your future suitemates to coordinate shared items (like TVs or refrigerators) and avoid duplicates. Bring only essentials at first — you can always bring more later!
Is alcohol or tobacco permitted in the Residence Hall?
No. LCCC is a dry campus, which means alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco, and vaporizers are prohibited in all Residence Halls — even for residents who are 21 or older.
Can I stay in the Residence Hall during school breaks?
Thanksgiving Break & Spring Break: Residents may stay for $10 per night.
Winter Break: The Residence Hall is closed for the full duration.
Even during open breaks, LCCC encourages students to rest and recharge off campus
when possible.
How can I get involved in the Residence Hall community?
The Residence Hall Council works with Residence Life staff to plan events, activities, and community‑building programs. Council elections happen early each academic year, and students are always welcome to contribute ideas—whether they serve on the council or not.
Can anyone get my student’s room or phone number?
No. Resident information is strictly confidential.
When someone calls to reach a student, they must provide the resident’s first and
last name, but staff will not release phone numbers, suite numbers, or any personal
details — even to parents. This policy helps ensure residents’ safety and privacy.
Can I visit a resident?
Yes! Guests are welcome if they are always escorted by a resident.
Why are there so many rules in the Residence Hall?
Residence Hall policies exist to protect the rights of all students to a safe, clean,
respectful, and academically supportive environment.
Rules are designed to:
- Support student success and wellbeing
- Maintain community standards
- Create a safe living and learning environment
- Encourage responsible, adult decision‑making
- The goal is not to restrict enjoyment — it’s to ensure all residents can thrive socially and academically.
What is “open housing”?
Open housing allows two or more students to share a multiple‑occupancy room or suite
regardless of gender identity or expression, provided everyone mutually agrees.
This option supports:
- Students uncomfortable with same‑gender rooming
- Transgender or gender‑diverse students
- Students who prefer cross‑gender pairing
- Married couples
- Anyone who does not want gender to determine roommate selection
Open housing is optional. Students are only placed in open housing if they actively choose it; otherwise, they are assigned a same‑sex roommate.
