☑ Step 1: Apply to LCCC

All limited-entry program applicants must have a current application on file with LCCC. Applicants must either be currently enrolled at LCCC or have applied for an upcoming semester. Those not currently attending must apply to LCCC before submitting the Health Sciences & Wellness Programs Application.

Students seeking credit for coursework completed at another college or university must submit official transcripts as part of the application process. Once official transcripts have been received, transfer credit is evaluated by the Office of the Registrar, which is the only office authorized to determine transfer eligibility and how credits apply toward programs.

To ensure all students enter the Radiography Program with the necessary patient care skills, completion of HLTK 1600 – Patient Skills is required; however, we understand that this course may not be accessible to all students, especially those who are transferring or completing prerequisites at a distance. If you are unable to take HLTK 1600, you may be awarded a course substitution if the following conditions are met:

  • Documentation of current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) licensure

CNA training must include a clinical component. Training that includes only classroom (didactic) instruction will not fulfill the requirement.

What to Expect if You Use the CNA Substitution

If you are accepted into the Radiography Program using current CNA licensure in place of HLTK 1600 you will be required to complete additional training and a skills-check to demonstrate proficiency in core patient care areas, such as:

  • Venipuncture for intravenous (IV) access and administration (not limited to blood draws)
  • Sterile technique and sterile procedures
  • Vitals signs (blood pressure, pulse, respirations, and temperature)

If your skills do not meet the required level, you may be:

  • Required to take HLTK 1600 during your first semester of the Radiography Program,
  • Assigned remediation or additional practice to improve your skills,
  • Or, in some cases, you may not be allowed to continue in the program.

Questions?

If you’re unsure whether your CNA training qualifies, or if you have concerns about meeting this requirement, please contact the Pathway Coordinator at HSW@LCCC.wy.edu
